Some of these can save money in the long run, and possibly have a different environmental impact. New technologies may also be have associated tax credit or benefits, so be sure to ask about these as well.

3. What do you offer in terms of guarantees and maintenance?

You don’t want to wait until after your project is complete to ask this question. Getting clear with your HVAC contractor about guarantees and maintenance offered is essential to making sure your system has longevity. Be sure to read anything in writing very carefully, and ask follow up questions with your contractor as they arise. Now is also a time to request references from your contractor, and search online to see if there are any reviews for them.

4. Can any existing structures be used?
By asking you may avoid unnecessary construction, which could be costly and time-consuming. Be sure to have your HVAC professional conducts a comprehensive evaluation of your site in order to assess current structures and appliances.

5. Are there any other hidden costs to this project?
This is a catchall to make ensure there won’t be many, or any, surprise costs with your HVAC project. Will your contractor handle permitting, and what is the cost for this? What brands will be used, and where are they obtained?

With these five questions you will be prepared to talk with your HVAC professional about any HVAC job. You will feel empowered to make the best HVAC decisions for your needs.
